While driving home Melissa became angrier and angrier thinking about the divorce papers. Its a good thing there weren’t any cops around because she surely would have gotten pulled over. Melissa was upset. She took off her church shoes and put on her work out shoes that were in the back seat. Melissa was shouting obscenities to other drivers on the road while trying to use her cell phone to call the house. Each time Melissa tried to call Xavier he would hang up the phone in her face stating he had nothing to say to her and that she should refer to pages 1 through 3 in the divorce decree. Melissa almost ran over a cat and the mailbox before rushing to stop in the driveway.
Melissa jumps out almost forgetting to put the car in park and starts banging on the front door.
“Shit! My keys don’t work, that dirty dog changed the locks. Xavier! Xavier!” Melissa shouts while banging on the door. “Open the damn door you son of a bitch how could you have me served at church!”
“All baby some dishes are just better served hot. Besides, trying to insult my mother on the sly is not going to get you in this house.”
“Xavier open this door you can’t lock me out of the house!”
Xavier opens the door but keeps the screen door locked.
“Oh, yes I can.”
“You are the man and I am the woman...you’re the one who has to leave it’s an unspoken rule.”
“Oh no, no, no, see, you are the one that’s the aggressor so you have to leave, its all in the summons, you should really read that, its good late night reading.”
Melissa shouts again. “Open up I need to get my belongings!”
“Sorry but I’ve already made arrangements to have all your belongings taken to your mother’s house. They should be arriving there in about five minutes. Hold up Melissa the phone is ringing.” Xavier walks away, to answer the phone. “Hello. Yes we are separating. Excuse me for a moment Mrs. Jacob’s.” Xavier walks over with the phone. “Melissa I stand corrected your belongings are already at your mom’s home. Novelty Moving Company is good; you should use them the next time you move I’m sure they’ll cut you a deal.”
“Fuck you Xavier.”
“No thanks I’ve already been there, done that, burnt for that.” He smiles. “That’s why were getting separated now cause I’m not the only one.”
“I hate you Xavier.”
“That’s good, go with your emotions, and feel free to express yourself it helps to get all the anger and aggression out.”
“Xavier, why are you doing this?”
“Melissa hold one moment.” Xavier puts the phone back to his ear.
“Mrs. Jacob hold on just another minute.” He directs his attention back to Melissa.
“Melissa, I’m not going to argue with you anymore, there comes a time when a person has to say enough is enough. You have been disrespectful to my entire family and I am not going to keep quiet any longer.”
“Xavier, open this door I don’t want to hear that crap, open this door.”
“I can’t say that I will, can’t say that I won’t.”
