Big Boy is a twenty-pound Maine Coon Cat that finds a home with six other cats, a dog, a horse, a goat and chickens. Big Boy finds exceptance and love from his new family as he interacts with them, from the large gray mare to the tiny mouse that lives under the tack room in the barn. The book is illustrated by the author and is taken from true experiences of Big Boy and put into fiction by having Big Boy tell the story.
Phyllis Ellis, is a long-time resident of Dahlonega, Georgia. A North Georgia town in the mountains. She has a small graphic design business called, Farm House Graphics, but is now semi-retired and has taken up painting and writing. Phyllis lives with her husband, Forrest, of 29 years, along with there animals. Through the years, she has had many horses, goats, cats, dogs, and chickens and has written various stories about most of them. This is her first book that she decided to illustrate and publish. Thanks to Big Boy's advise.
Big Boy spent his first night in the new home in a large room with windows at one end. He looked out and saw trees and mountains.
As the new morning brought the sun up, he spotted squirrels and birds, and then meowed, “What do I see?
Oh my! ...Cats, six of them,
and a dog!”
“I can't believe I'm in a home with all these other animals around,” purred Big Boy.
“I didn't expect to belong to a large family.”
He wasn't sure if the others would welcome him into their home.
They were older, and he hadn't been around other cats
since he was a kitten with his brothers and sisters
and mother.
He decided to start introducing himself. But, with
each cat, it was a hiss and a growl... and some cat
words that he wouldn't want to repeat.
“What kind of a cat are you?” asked the large gray and white cat named Alice. “I thought I was big, but you're, well… fat!”
“Don't pay any attention to her,” Flitty Kitty said as she flirted with Big Boy and circled around him, showing off her long
flowing tail.
“I like having you here.”
