About the Book

To Kyoko, mythical creatures are something you rent and watch on a Saturday night with your friends. When a mysterious stalker turns the shadows around her into dark corners with sharp deadly edges, will she be able to hide from the past?  Darkness has fallen upon the world again and the guardians have been awaiting the resurrection.  Though they are thought to be creatures of myth, in this reality they are far more real than people think. Only when the moon is high will these creatures, these guardians, battle the evil that seeks to overtake the world and the girl who holds ultimate power… the light in the heart of darkness.

Chapter 20 “Wicked”

The night air shook as they collided, making the sound echo through the area. Kyoko glanced back just in time to see Tasuki and Yohji circle each other before moving with blinding speed, hands and claws extended for the others throat… feet leaving the ground at the same time.

They spiraled into the air, their legs out behind them looking momentarily like marionettes on strings and Kyoko wondered if they were indeed being manipulated to some degree.

The site of them with their hands around each other’s throats in mortal combat was nothing compared to what was going on above them. Kyoko’s eyes widened and her jaw dropped open in awed terror. More vampires were arriving of all shapes and sizes. It looked as if the nightwalkers where running across the top of the trees only to drop to the ground soundlessly all around them.

Adding to her terror was a wave of spiders that joined them, crawling over the ground, rocks and other vampires before finally converging under the discarded white gown that had been left moments before.  The garment seemed to pulse and finally filled out as the female reformed from the tiny arachnids.

Kyoko could feel evil all around her but this evil was so real… it was suffocating. It was almost as if the evil in the air before was only a preview of things to come.

Her head whipped from side to side searching for the source.  Her gaze went to the ground and landed on the feet of someone standing very close to her. Her eyes slowly traveled up a body only a god would be jealous of. It was perfect in every way… long legs and thighs that met a tapered waist.  Pale skin that looked almost white against the black button up shirt that lay against it.

Kyoko found herself wondering if the rest of his skin was that pale and blushed furiously.  She was in mortal danger and couldn’t take the time to think about such things. However, she couldn’t help but wonder what…all thought stopped when she saw his face and gasped.  If Satan existed this is what he would have looked like… after all, wasn’t he the most beautiful one of all?

An angel’s face that appeared to be carved from marble, showing no emotion except the slightest bit of amusement surrounded by long black hair that fluttered in the still building breeze blowing around them.  He was evil, he was sadistic and he was beautiful…a very dangerous combination.
