Howard Lee Sprague
The
story is a cat’s view of time spent in a pet shop, being taken to a loving home with
other pets and followed by an adventure created by ignoring warnings from an older cat.

A Cat and Proud of It
I still remember playing in a
cage with my little cat friends. We
would run and jump, play tug of war and play make believe fighting.
We all had the same
name. Every one of us was named
kitty. People would come over to our
cage and pick up one of us and say “Oh what a cute kitty”.
Some times they would put the
kitty back in the cage and sometimes they would carry the kitty to some other
place. We would never see that kitty
again.
I was afraid someone would
pick me up and I would never be seen again.
I just hid behind the other kitties.
