Chapter Two
Admittedly, the first component that defines us and, indeed, shapes our mood, as well as determining if we will be happy or not, is our free will. In making effective use of this very important tool we are endowed with the ability of making choices. Everyone does it - every day and every second of each day. Choices are our ability to select one material thing over another, perform a task, or to conduct ourselves in certain way, in preference to all other(s). These all others are the alternatives which we have rejected in preference to the one we chose. Choices may, indeed, be the need to choose between two things/conducts which may be similar, or dissimilar, to each others.

Chapter Eight:
There is no doubt that when an intention is accomplished, it gives considerable happiness to the person or persons. Happiness -being a state of joy without encumbrances. While this state of things is possible, one is puzzled how quickly the experience of gladness can turn into sadness. There is no arguing the various chemical changes in our body that accompany these experiences. However, what individuals, and people in general, seem perplexed about is how individuals can achieve sustainable happiness without being manically frenzied.
There is evidence to believe that a major life accomplishment, such as a breakthrough in science, can cause moderate long term sustenance, as well as help to sustain happiness. Nevertheless, this is not guaranteed.....
.......As I have mentioned, one of the chief reasons, if not the only reason, for living is to have one’s intention or decision established.
....Thus, the depth of, or value of our desire, affects our level of happiness. The other character that affects our happiness is if the desire threatens our very existence. A failure in realising such a life-affecting desire may lead us to be very unhappy. Examples of this are commonly found in the desire for employment, or hope relating to financial matters. Also, we see this kind of depth or loss of value when we lose someone that is very dear to us. Equally, one phase (see graphs) of our happiness or unhappiness may merge with another thus giving rise to either prolonged happiness or prolonged unhappiness.
