Hilda Nightingale
This book is a collection of poetry and stories in verse written about life experiences, full of humour and compassion that strikes a familiar chord with its smooth and lilting rhyme. For the young and young at heart.

THE GOLDEN DOOR
Go and fetch her, bring her to me
She has wearied oh so long
In life’s battles she had courage
In her living she was strong
Did God’s bidding helping others
As she struggled with each day
Only asking help from Jesus
As she bent her head to pray
And she never asked of Jesus
Anything just for herself
Just for others did she seek Him
Just for others pray for help
And the angels took her gently
Brought her through that golden door
Up to sit in Jesus’ glory
Where life’s worries are no more
THE CLEANSING
I envy you your tears
For you will laugh tomorrow
While I dry eyed will grieve
For all my woes and sorrow
To take life lightly
May be fine for some
Their grief short lived
They take each day as it may come
But I hold close to me each bitter word
And live each hurt until the end
I feel the friction that they cause
And grow to know them as a friend
Tomorrow I’ll look back and see
The sad lost days that needn’t be
The wasted time, the stolen years
I envy you your tears
