Even Brushing My Teeth?
It’s morning already? No! The alarm clock is going off directly into your ear with some song that’s probably going to be stuck in your head all day, and after considering hitting the snooze button for the seventh time, you finally decide to roll out of bed. You trip over the dishes you left on the floor and stumble into the bathroom. Glancing up, you take a quick look at yourself in the mirror: scary morning hair, eyes that haven’t quite opened yet, crease marks on the whole left side of your face from your pillow, and, ah yes, morning breath. You find your toothbrush, put some extra-whitening toothpaste on it, and start scrubbing away. (Don’t you hate it when you miss your mouth and go up the side of your face?) You’re so glad no one can see you right now. But wait. Maybe someone can.
God has been watching you and waiting. And right now, as you look deep into your reflection, His heart is eagerly beating, longing for you to choose to also lock eyes with Him in this simple moment. Go ahead; look in the mirror. You’ll see Him looking back. He’s there, inside your heart ready to experience this very moment with you, and what lies ahead.
