WHAT IS IT?
This beautifully illustrated Two-in-One learn to read book with its carefully designed format has been adapted to introduce the basic learning skill that is required to establish a solid foundation in the young reader's journey to become a fluent reader.
This specially adapted Two-in-One format is structured to engage, encourage and stimulate the reader.
The first part of the book is the story in a sequence of illustrations only, where upon the reader will be encouraged to Look and Tell, using their own language to develop a story telling technique letting conversation flow and gaining them the confidence that will enhance their reading skill.
Join in effectively with questions refering to the illustrations, but at the same time let the reader establish the Look and Tell process. This is one of the most valuable techniques that will prepare them with the important reading skill required.
Moving on to the next level of the Two-in-One book. Illustrations and Text.
Carefully read through pointing to each word individually. Re-read letting the reader point carefully to each word and look closely at the word beginnings and endings. Point out rhyming words and discuss and say their sounds. Let them explore and recognise that rhyming words don't always have the same endings even though they sound the same.
Repetitive language has been used to enable the reader to learn by sight. Sight Vocabulary is another important skill that will assist in the learn to read process.
Look, Tell, Read and Enjoy using this beautifully well illustrated and written book.
By using the skills in which I have outlined the reader will gain the knowledge and confidence which will take them on to a wide range of reading material. Reading should be enjoyable and not a chore. Enjoy young readers!
Writing has always played a big part in my journey through the stages and changes in my life. I began writing short stories and poetry at thirteen.
From the age of twenty one my life was devoted to being a mother, writing short stories for fun to enjoy with my children. .
At twenty seven life took me and my children to live in the heart of the country. Two years later I started the best career of my life as teaching assistant.
The twelve years that followed working in the teaching enviroment along side a wonderful teacher (Mrs. Margeret Unsworth) gave me the confidence, skills and experiences that made me who I am today. Thank you Marg. We were the dream team.
It was working in this enviroment which led to the story of WHAT IS IT?
I was supervising lunch time play on the first day back in the Autumn term. My hand was being clasped tightly by a little chappie. Lost in a child's world we chased, jumped and tried to get away from our shadows. It was this true scenerio that inspired WHAT IS IT? Thank you Russell.
In 2005 with the motivation, love and kindness of my husband Michael I was determined to pursue with my writing career and knocking the dust off WHAT IS IT? I knew it was time to get it published
Thank you Michael for the lovely surname and helping me through the bad times which led us both to the good times.
A special thank you to my three children Jamie(24) Damian(21) and Jodie(20) for all those happy years that we shared together.I have watched you all grow from little acorns into fine oaks and I am so proud of you all.
Thank You dear friends and family.
I SEE IT ON A SUNNY DAY
WHEN I GO OUTSIDE TO PLAY.
IT FOLLOWS ME WHEREVER I GO,
WHAT IS IT?
I DONT KNOW!
