I got my inspiration for my book through working with children for over twenty years, and a desire which has been burning for a long time to start writing. I have over time become aware of a need of more safety awareness amongst the very young. By bringing their attention to certain important aspects, like holding Mummy's hand when they cross the road through stories that are enjoyable to read, then maybe children and their parents might decide to take note. The story also reinforces the comforting aspect of just simply having a hand to hold when sometimes all that is needed is a bit of reassurance. This story will gradually evolve into a series highlighting different key safety aspects as well as being a lot of fun for children and the people who read to them
I think that next time I will hold mummy’s hand, which is so safe and secure.

Like the time we went to the big superstore. Instead of holding mummy’s hand like she asked, I ran off to have my own adventure.
So many things all bright and colourful, lots of things to see. It was all exciting for a few minutes. I think I am quite big and grown-up now that I am four.
But suddenly everyone looks so big and scary…. Where is my mummy
