Destiny Becomes Me is powerful and original and straight from the heart. This young Nigerian author’s unique voice comes through in every poem, as she restlessly works to transform sadness, grief, and struggle into an expression of joy that can uplift and inspire. The almost one hundred and eighty poems in the book employ a mixture of different styles to explore daily life, love, hope, despair, and faith. There is something for everyone and every occasion. In Destiny Becomes Me, the portrait of the author’s heart and spirit is alive on every page.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
From the time I could retain a conscious thought, I have always had a healthy appreciation for the world around me. My mom tells the story of how I used to drive her crazy with incessant questions about every subject under the sun from the time I was about one and a half years old. She said no one answer was ever enough for me and since most of the answers invariably began with a "because," when no answer was forthcoming, I would supply a "because" as if to urge her on. Fueled by my love for books, any empty sheet has always seemed to me to be a priceless gift. Indeed, some of my happiest moments have been spent filling the pages of a brand new jotter, oh joy!
Just like music, painting, sculpture and other select art, poetry is a really deep form of communicating with our inner selves since it goes beyond the surface to touch a chord deep within.I hope you enjoy my poems, I sure enjoyed writting them.

LOOK WHAT YOU’VE DONE

All my life, I was told that my dream  was just that - a dream
see, I know how easy it is to get discouraged
when you meet brick wall after brick wall,
everyone said to give it up that is, everyone but you.

Look what you did for me - when I laid down my dreams
you made me look inside myself, to reach for the ability I discovered there,
to believe that anything is possible.

So, I picked up my dreams, dusted them,
then I poured myself into them
now I can hardly believe it , but I know its for real
because I've pinched myself many times
you know, to be sure .
No, its no longer a dream
instead, I'm living my dream
 I’m living my dream
thank you for seeing something in me
for caring enough to look closely
and for spotting what everyone else overlooked.

Now, no matter what happens
I will always have this.
just come and look what you've done.
