Dora Ricks and Melvin Ricks II
Young children have memories of where they were prior to birth. They also have questions about how this world operates. Some children are curious about ties between the two worlds; they make inquiries and provide fascinating information. As we grow older, we lose memories of our God connection but, the youngsters remember.
Melvin and I worship regularly. When my son was a young child and learning to read, I searched the church bookstores for interesting stories about our relationship with God. I did not locate anything for an inquisitive, knowledgeable three to four year old.
At approximately four years old, he began asking questions. As he grew older and paid more attention to spiritual teachings, he continued to ask questions. I continued explaining from my point of understanding.
One day, it occurred to me that I should document our conversations. This book is a collection of conversations, between my son and me, about God. His understanding and inquiries come from interacting with Sunday School Teachers, television ministries, choirs, and numerous prominent speakers at our church.
Dora Ricks has a B.A. Degree in Business from Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan. As a child, she wrote fiction and poetry. Dora writes monthly, feature articles for her church newsletter. She has also written training materials for healthcare and computer professionals, poetry, and is working on a novel.
This is Melvin's first book. Melvin is an intermediate school student. He enjoys reading, swimming, and animals.
Mel asked, “Mommy, Where is God?”
Mommy said, “God is everyplace; in people, trees, flowers, and butterflies. God created beautiful rainbows in the
people, plants, animals, and food.”
