Dr. David R. Wood
This first book in a series of three is about the timeframe from the original creation to the time that mankind sinned found in Genesis chapter three. This book briefly discusses the initial consequences of that sin. Dr. Wood addresses the issues of evolution and how do science and Scripture interface. Did dinosaurs exist or are they an elaborate hoax of science. Is the earth really six or seven thousand years old? How old is the universe? Are the cosmos and the earth the same age? When did men first walk the earth? Are we the first sentient persons to walk the earth? The answers to these questions and others are addressed in this insightful book by Dr. Wood.
Dr. Wood and his wife formerly of the State of Maine have been Texas residents since 1980. They live on a working ranch south of San Antonio. CHAPTER ONE
THE ORIGINAL CREATION
The “Creation Story” is a much discussed topic. I will attempt
to bring clarity on this topic according to the Truth of God’s
Word. It is recorded, “In the beginning God created the heaven
and the earth” (Genesis 1:1) [1]. Th e phrase “In the beginning” is the
Hebrew word “reshît” Hebrew Strong’s number 7225, meaning;
the first, in place, time, order or rank, the beginning or principal
thing [1]. Th is same word resulting in the phrase “In the beginning”
in Genesis 1:1 is also used in Proverbs 4:7 when it says, “Wisdom is
the principal thing”. In this very first verse of the Bible the heaven
(actually heavens) and earth are being created, but there are deeper
truths. You may say what deeper Truths? If you had only this fi rst
verse of the Bible there would be no deeper Truth but that is not
the case. You and I have the full counsel of Scripture. In this first
verse four spiritual laws come into view and are manifested. Th ese
four spiritual laws are love, faith, words and light. First love, God
is love (1 John 4:8), second is faith for whatever is not of faith is sin
(Romans 14:23) and there is no sin in our God. The third spiritual
law is words for God speaks all things into existence (Hebrews 11:3)
as we see in the remainder of the “creation account”, and forth is
light for God is light (1 John 1:5). We know intuitively and from
Scripture that God is existent from eternity past to eternity future.
An unending timeframe or an existence absent time is very diffi cult
if not impossible for the natural mind to comprehend but it is
possible for the born again spirit and the renewed mind guided by
the indwelling Holy Spirit of God. There are several verses in the
Scriptures which speak of the eternal nature of God.
