About the Book

To truly understand terrorism, one must observe historic incidents that occurred causing mass fear and panic in a society in an attempt to change some political or social standing.  This book was written to not only show some historical perspectives on terrorism, but through fictitious stories that can allow the reader to grasp a better reality of the numerous possibilities that would cause an individual or group of individuals to conduct terrorist attacks.  If we can learn to think like terrorists, we can learn to prevent the incidents they attempt to conduct. Anyone who knows the least bit about terrorism knows that preventing attacks from happening is virtually impossible, so the next best thing is to learn how to prevent the amount of damage caused by the terrorist attack.  This book will hopefully allow the reader the opportunity to gain knowledge on just that: think like a terrorist, steps to prevent the attacks from occurring, and failing that, prevent the amount of loss (Terrorism, Intelligence, and National Security).

Terrorism, Intelligence, and National Security was written to inform the reader about issues that have placed the United States lifeline in jeopardy.  It is virtually impossible to write a book about terrorism and keep it up to date.  Some contents in this book are old and outdated.  The main reason for the outdated information is to allow an understanding of history. History has been known to be one of the best teachers in international affair, politics, and war.  Let’s face it, if the Germans in World War II would have read history, they would have realized Napoleon could not defeat the Russians in the winter due to weather hence, they too failed the overthrow of Russia for the same reason.  While historic moments in terrorism are mentioned in this book, another reason for outdated information is due to intelligence security issues.  I have written this book utilizing open source and my own personal experiences and education that exclude classified information to prevent security violations.  Any reader that understands terrorism or understands the U.S. government hopefully will appreciate the lack of time sensitive information displayed in this publication.

Terrorism, Intelligence, and National Security also has numerous short stories prior to some of the chapters in the book.  ALL of these short stories are fictitious yet were written based off of prior terrorist attack tools, techniques, and procedures.  Cultural aspects in the short stories are not accurate. Some cultural issues in the short stories were intended to be inaccurate due to security reasons.  I would never wish to see that a terrorist used this book for their own cause to create harm to any one person or entity. Ideologies from thought are also not accurate in these short stories, yet were written so the reader can understand why some individuals would commit to terrorist attacks.  It is important to understand the mind of the opposition.  Outside the short stories, I have made this book as accurate as possible yet understood the time sensitive issues that might have arisen prior to its publication.  For those deeply involved in the Anti/Counter terrorism occupations, I apologize in advance if I let you down. This is my way of attempting to educate the public that does not or is not privileged to do the work needed to provide the security blanket for the rest of the free world to sleep safely at night.
