No emotion is left untouched and no feeling was too strong for the author to bring to you. Enter this journey through Infinity and allow your mind, heart and soul to be free to feel.
Dawn Brown is the fierce soulful poet that was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born to Ura Douglas III and Diane M. Douglas. She has three brothers Ura IV, Tony and Uron and three sisters, Terri, Angel and Africa. She is very close to her family, especially her elders Myrtle Brents, Barbara Hughes, Ura Jr. and Virginia Douglas.
She started writing poetry with two of her friends, Jamie and Robin in 1993 during their senior year at Butler High School. Thus began her love of poetry. As she evolved and grew, so did her poetry.
She goes by the moniker Soul Food Poems, and explains the name simply by saying that her poems come from her soul and are food for everyone’s soul. Her poems take you through every emotion imaginable, and allow you to feel the same way she was feeling when she penned each poem.
Dawn and Jevon live in Las Vegas, Nevada, with their three wonderful children Jalen, Deja and Anansa. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and of course writing. She is currently working on her second book, "A Journey through Infinity" and an untitled children’s book.
A Marriage of Metaphors
Prolific vocab, tongue twisting king
Leaving minds smoking while spell binding
Thoughts so profound they astound the average mentality
Complete originality guarantees verbal lethality
Making mere mortals weak
As they attempt to seek
The 3 keys of his life
Knowledge, wisdom and understanding
Commanding perfection from the object of his affection
Seeing her as his mirrored reflection
Dissecting each others mathematics
Knowledge driven drug addicts
Formulating complex mental bonds
As she responds
To his sun, moon and earth
Birthing wisdom with immeasurable worth
Planting seeds of new breeds
As he feeds her receptive soul
2 incomplete lives now made whole
Uniting for 1 common goal
2 spread knowledge, wisdom and understanding
Through their seeds of life
He be her husband
And she be his wife
United, never to be divided
Mental marriage only just begun
2 separate souls merged
Finally become 1
