Come, read of the other characters, football heroes, and the like who helped Jonathan Jackson find his way.  Some unwittingly, some unwillingly, but all in the end giving in to the same will, an ultimate will which likewise drove Jonathan and sent an angel to assure him that his quest was not in vain.  But instead was a noble, and holy trek through life, the game of football and a North American journey meant to be.

CHAPTER SEVEN

Carter’s Field

The early morning of November 21, 2001 brought a strong chilling wind.  The air was cold and bitter.  Arriving at the practice field, Jonathan found himself all alone on the west end of Carter’s Field, the team’s home practice stadium; which had recently been renamed in honor of the 39th President of the United States, former President, Jimmy Carter.

Three o’clock in the morning was not a particularly unusual time for Jonathan to find himself on the field yet he felt uneasy.  In less than 6 hours, he would find himself involved in one of the game of football’s main events, the semi-finals elimination rounds.  The sports casters had called it the most crucial game of the season for the Pirates.  A game if won by them would introduce to the world undoubtedly, the league’s first “comeback” team, a team whose seemingly endless efforts, if on target, would afford it an opportunity to become the next Super Bowl Champion.  They had already cinched their division title.  They need only win their next four games before they would become able contestants for the XXX Super bowl.

While Jonathan stood between the west end goal post starring dully down the field contemplating his game-plan which now was to place the Pirates in the sports history books, his feet were kicking involuntary at the dew soaked grass.  So violently was the swinging and consequent digging action of his feet that clumps of reddish brown dirt were being rapidly unearthed.

However in spite of this persistent action his feet had not dug deep enough to reveal or worst yet unleash the horror that awaited them and the entire team during its final hour of football glory.  Fore beneath them lied the most terrifying group of sub-humans ever known to man, the revived spirits of the dead rotten carcasses of members of an ancient sect of devil worshippers, spirits who were waiting to be set free by the devil/man known as El Capitan de Sangre, yes Adrianis, the devil incarnate himself.  <
