About the Author

Thomas E. Zurinskas is retired and lives in Greenacres, Florida, with his wife Bonnie.  His children are Ezekial and Nathan, and grandkids, courtesy of Zeke and wife, Grace, are Gina, Gabrielle, and Jacob.  Mr. Zurinskas has written several papers during his past 33 years with the Federal Aviation Administration.

Over the years Mr. Zurinskas has written many poems for friends and local publications.  This is a first collection of his poems.

His hobby since 1987 has been phonetic spelling. To this end, he has established an English friendly phonetic system.  He has rewritten the English language in truespel (USA accent), the world's first “pronunciation guide spelling system."  This system uses regular letters in normal case and also shows stress in words. This book is like a time capsule to me, written over the years.  And so the poem Time Capsule seems appropriate.

Time Capsule

by Thomas E. Zurinskas

I put my heart in a time capsule

And buried it away,

To a hidden place only I know

But see it everyday.

I placed in it my dearest hopes,

A diary untold,

A hidden ending to a story

Time will yet unfold.

I put my heart in a time capsule

The day that you were born.

A diary, not one page soiled,

Nor dog-eared or torn.

And years reveal my hidden hopes,

Are now all coming true.

I put my love in a time capsule

And that, my dear, is you.
