OF LIGHT AND DARKNESS
In a bitter sweet reverie
I see neon-lit doves
Dance to the rhythmic beats
Of my silent screams.
Shaken, I fall
Like rotten peaches.
A sudden volcanic marsh
Erupts on my right arm,
Layers of my skin melt
Like a plastic sheet on fire.
I scream my lungs out
Wished I had never denied Christ.
In a flash,
I am frozen by rays of light
Falling from the skies
As fireworks on independence day.
Years of mastering eloquence
Culminate into a bewildered stare.
Then,
A storm inside my head ends
Commotion ceases
And peace descends.
I wake up amazed
At the power of God,
But I am afraid to enter heaven.
With my feet in cold water,
I stay up all night
Guarding against temptations
Calling my name.
I search beyond
My present state of mind,
Beyond moments of clarity
And I gather passion
Defines a man’s actions.
I face my fears
For I want to enjoy
Love entwined within complexities.
