INTO THE WIND
In 20th century America, young men discovered their rites of passage toward manhood by working on the farm, joining the military or attending college.
In 21st century America, the rite of passage for most boys becomes blurred in the confusion of the changing roles of men and women. ‘INTO THE WIND’ offers teenagers a window into the world of two teens about to discover what it is to become young men by adventuring to Alaska. The boys do not know what is ahead of them, but they seek their fortunes. They face not only danger, but their own shortcomings in the midst of challenges. Whether it’s arm wrestling the meanest mountain man in Alaska or witnessing a grizzly- moose conflict in the wilds—each boy grows in his own way.
It features Trevor who laughs at life, who loves life and takes risks—often foolish ones. His brother, Dan, tries to moderate him to no avail, yet, the younger boy learns life’s lessons and proves it. Nothing can keep Trevor’s humor and passion for life in check. By the action of the two main characters, it covers honesty, humor, relationships, personal responsibility, personal crisis, ecology, hard work and a sense of wonder with the natural world.

Endorsements: ‘MOTORCYCLE ADVENTURE TO ALASKA’
"Seldom does a book capture the fantasy and reality of an epic journey the magnitude of a ‘MOTORCYCLE ADVENTURE TO ALASKA’. Trevor and Dan resemble another duo rich in America’s history of youthful explorers who get into all kinds of trouble—Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. They plied the Mississippi River, but Dan and his brother push their machines into a wild and savage land—Alaska. My boys loved it." John Mathews, father of two boys and a daughter "This is the best book I’ve ever read, period! Trevor is the wildest and craziest kid on the planet. I’m going to make this ride some day myself." Jack Hamilton, 10th grade "I’m a tomboy and I loved this book. I especially loved the two backpacking girls who could out ride Trevor and Dan. Just goes to show you boys aren’t such hot shots. Girls rock!" Amy Lindell, 12th grade dirt bike rider "Okay, they worked their butts off, bought motorcycles and got ‘into the wind’. Sounds easy, but these guys met up with some bad dudes on the way. That grizzly scared me half to death. I loved it when Trevor ate the raw fish with the mountain men. This is an extreme adventure and lots of fun." Paul Thomaston, 11th grader "This book is what boyhood is all about—hard work, purpose, school, values, personal responsibility and adventure. As a mother of two boys, I would be proud to have Trevor and Dan as my sons. I especially love the ‘wildness’ of Trevor. He made us all laugh a lot. My boys loved this book." Mary Jefferson, mother of two teen boys
