My book You Will Live Forever: Religion, Science And Reincarnation, bases my
argument for eternal life for all on three premises:
- The first is not often heard, the argument called
non-dualism. This means that god is
everything, all spirit and matter.
Therefore, since god is eternal, all human beings and animals also
are eternal.
- God is love, a much more frequently heard reason for
believing in reincarnation, but a good one.
- If god is all-powerful, all-loving and we’re parts of
god, god surely saves us all by reincarnation.
I have four more reasons why I
believe god grants us reincarnation:
- Without this method of saving and reusing us, Earth
would be unspeakably tragic in view of our being able to think, to love,
to hope and to dream.
- Earth would be drastically unfair and unequal, with
billions of human beings never having opportunities for escape from
poverty, disease, physical handicaps and lack of education.
- God would be extremely wasteful if a new spirit had
to be created every time a new one is needed.
- Faith in reincarnation relieves us of great sadness
for we believe we and our loved ones are reunited in heaven, and at death
we don’t have to say farewell to Earth.
Dean C. Gross, author of You Will Live Forever : Religion, Science, Love and Reason, believes the universe is based on love, reason, and the non-separation of god from everything, so we’re parts of god. Therefore, we; like god, are eternal and we alternate, with our loved ones, between heaven and earth.
Dean, the son of a Methodist Minister, directed public libraries for 25 years and for many years wrote weekly newspaper book reviews and columns, read and discussed great books on TV and radio, and sang sacred solos in churches and on religious programs.
Many people are looking for
religious faith. Finding their
previously held beliefs unsatisfactory, or their absence from any of of them, they are seeking faith in a God of love and
reason. Some are hearing reports from
religion and science that these longtime disputants are finding areas of
agreement in beliefs concerning the origin and development of the universe, and
in life on earth and in other solar systems.
The age-old cry for belief in
life after death is as strong as ever, with many having lost faith in the idea
of one life on earth followed, for some, by eternity in heaven.
I first heard of reincarnation
when I was an undergraduate in college.
I decided to look into it, but twelve years passed before I did
that. Then it was as if a light had been
turned on for me in my entire life.
The following became some of my
first articles of faith:
- Anything as vast and mysterious as the universe, as
beautiful and varied as earth, and as complex and magnificent as life,
must have a Creator-God.
- God is everything, is eternal, is a source of great
love, we
are parts of God, and all that means we too are eternal, alternating between heaven and
earth or other planets.
- I believe human beings are spirits, as parts of God's
Spirit, when we're in heaven and spirit-in-matter when on earth or other
planets.
- I believe we rejoin our loved ones in heaven, we
remember our lives with them on planets, and in heaven we can also know of
our previous times in heaven and on planets.
I held traditional Christian beliefs
until I was in my late teens, and at 35, believing that God's love and reason
are inherent in reincarnation, I achieved belief in God and in reincarnation.
As I write this, war is
afflicting America
and other nations after more than 3,000 Americans and people of other countries
have been killed by terrorists. Belief
in reincarnation makes all deaths less tragic, and it helps human beings to
adjust to whatever befalls us.
Reincarnation can bring peace to the ill, the aged, the handicapped, and
the impoverished, giving them hope that they will have better lives in both
heaven and and on earth, and it should be taught to
all ages to help in lessening fear of death and disasters.
If you don't believe that we all
have eternal life through reincarnation, I hope you will read this book and
others on the subject, and that you will accept this ancient faith.
