Helene Andreu
A Finalist in ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year Award, this book is a "must have" for dance lovers, with routines in nine different jazz styles, clear explanations of steps, turns, isolations, hints on execution, innumerable stunning photographs, a glossary, bits of information on choreographers, dancers, music and historical background. It received a 5-STAR rating from both ForeWordreviews.com (5/03) and from Midwest Book Review (7/03). The latter placed it in the Reviewer's Choice section of their Small Press Bookwatch.
You'll become mentally and physically attuned to whichever jazz style you choose to learn and you'll have fun as you read and practice the material in each chapter: the steps, background information, bibliography and discography.
In JAZZ DANCE STYLES AND STEPS FOR FUN, all the steps are choreographed to suit the particular jazz style of that chapter. By the time you complete the book you'll understand the growth of American jazz dance and the various influences on its development. Anyone interested in knowing about jazz dance, performing jazz or adapting these routines for ice skating, gymnastics, shows, etc., will enjoy reading the book and dancing the steps.
For those of you who wish to add aerobics to your jazz practice, this book has hints on aerobicizing steps and routines.
No other jazz dance book offers as comprehensive an amount of material as JAZZ DANCE STYLES AND STEPS FOR FUN.
