Estrogen is essential for good health and well being in women of all ages throughout their lives. I have written this book because I want to encourage women who have been on hormone replacement, like me, to consider remaining on it for life as I plan to do. For women who have been scared or hesitant to take estrogen because they are afraid of contracting breast cancer as predicted by the incorrect conclusions of the Women’s Health Initiative in 2002, read this book and save your life.
My doctor told me that I should stop taking estrogen because it is recommended for the shortest amount of time to control symptoms only. I have researched this issue for over a year because I want to make the right decision for me. I have decided to share my findings and experience of long term estrogen use with other women, and men who care for women, because I have discovered that we have been misled and our health and quality of life are at risk.
Estrogen Revisited: Lifelong and Fearless is co-authored by Blane Crandall, M.D. Dr. Crandall has been Board Certified in the fields of Family Practice and Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has been a practicing physician for over thirty years and has written many articles on hormones and is an expert in the field of hormone replacement. He brings to this discussion unique medical credentials and experience treating women throughout their life span.
Together, we hope to provide the reader with a balanced discussion of the benefits of hormone replacement. I hope that women will identify with my situation and also my frustration with the conflicting misinformation in the press regarding hormone replacement. Dr. Crandall has combined the natural history of medical disease in women with the data of numerous medical studies to draw the inescapable conclusion that women should take hormones fearlessly and lifelong.

Estrogen Revisited?Lifelong and Fearless is a definitive book on estrogen. It contains a detailed example of a woman’s life and the health advantages she has experienced as a result of taking estrogen for more than thirty years. It also describes what a woman’s life is like without experiencing menopause. Blane Crandall, MD, has included a detailed explanation of hormone replacement therapy as it relates to the different estrogen uses.
Ask yourself these questions: Do you want only fifty years of good health before watching it deteriorate? Do you want to maintain your femininity throughout your life or lose it once your estrogen supply is depleted? Do you want to increase your chances for heart disease—the number one cause of death for women—because the estrogen that provides protection to your coronary arteries is gone once your estrogen is depleted? Do you want to risk hip fractures and other diseases because your estrogen has been depleted? Why should women allow the slow decline of their health (which is a result of menopause) because their body stops producing estrogen? Donna is living proof of the benefits of lifelong estrogen use. Her case is not unique.
1. The WHI ignored the natural history of breast cancer and heart disease. 3. In the WHI studies, there was no new breast cancer. 4. The risk of dying from breast cancer is decreased in women taking hormones according to most studies published. 6. The risk of heart disease is decreased if hormones are begun at menopause and continued for life. 10. The risk of Alzheimer’s disease is significantly reduced with estrogen use.
