This book developed from my writing the first poem titled” Now Will You Serve Me?”, after my husband and I endured a traumatic experience with our neighbors. As we were going through that ordeal, I stated to my husband " God is not happy with us",-"We are not serving him wholeheartedly".
We developed a routine - making excuses not to attend church, while focusing on worldly issues and material things.  As we waited on an answer to our prayers, we were directed by God immediately to a new church home. Praise God!!!

While at this church, I had the opportunity to read this poem to my former Pastor’s wife and she was so moved by it, that she strongly suggested that I compile a book. Shortly after, my former Pastor allowed me to recite my inspirational poems to the congregation every Sunday. The congregation embraced me with tremendous support, encouragement and love.

I began to write a new poem every week based on life events and God’s anointing. At times, I would be driving down the highway  on my way home from work, and I would get a thought  that was so overwhelming that I was compelled to pull over and grab a piece of paper and start writing. I thank God for this gift!

I pray as you read the reflections in this book, you will be uplifted and encouraged to seek God to establish a deeper, closer relationship with him. I know God is real and he gives us the choice to serve him or not!  If you choose wisely, you will never regret it and will be richly blessed.  To God Be the Glory!!!
Born and educated in Chicago, living her tumultuous teen years  in the  now demolished Robert Taylor Homes Housing Projects on the South Side. As the oldest of seven children, she was lovingly raised by a single mother, Lucie.

God’s grace and mercy enveloped her. She overcame the odds and successfully graduated from high school, avoiding the dilemma of becoming a pregnant teenager.

Arising early, many mornings, perched on the window sill , she watched the Metra trains pass. She imagined herself on the train, going far away from the projects and poverty. This was the beginning of her many dreams for a better way of life.

Richly blessed to be the mother of two beautiful daughters, Shaunine and Cherese and  two granddaughters, Desiree and Leticia. She resides in  Kansas City with her husband, Archie.

Life is Too  Short

We have a tendency to take life for granted,

In the meantime, our relationships are superficially planted.

We think there will always be a tomorrow,

Our families and friends starve; we work hard at bringing sorrow.

Our elders are dying and yet we make them wait,

What does it cost you? They only want to see your face!!

We wrongfully assume they will always be present,

Once they are gone, leaving us regrets that are unpleasant,

Unselfish moments that you should have set aside,

They didn't want your money, only a portion of your time.

We're totally immersed at striving for success,

But when a life is over, who remembers all the stress.

Our relationships require tending time to flourish,

Don't allow time to pass you by, careful, try hard to nourish.

Life is too short to squander and to borrow,

If you make time today, your life will be filled with power.
