This is one of the most popular folktales in Ethiopia.  The story is about a family who longed to have a perceptive child.  Their wish comes true and they had a son whom they named Sinziro.  Sinziro grows up to be a smart boy who protects his brothers from the neighborhood’s mischievous boys.

It is an inspirational story that enables the reader to be inquisitive, truthful, to have respect and love for one another.

M. Getachew writes to entertain, inspire and enlighten children.  Stories she writes are about Ethiopian children's folktales that she heard growing up.  She started writing stories in order to share them with her daughter. She is working on two children’s stories for 2008.  She lives in California with her husband and children.

“They conspired against Sinziro and they decided to take Sinziro to the far away land and leave him there.”

“’…there are three men with me also and I will show you where they are.’ He continued screaming and crying.”

“Soon he came to a mansion of the mayor of the town. He decided to ask if he could spend the night at the mansion. “
