Enzo began writing poetry at the age of 18, and he continued writing as he pursued different occupations and careers.  The poems are largely drawn from his own experiences and or observations.  Enzo rejects the notion of many modern poets who say that ‘good’ poetry shouldn’t rhyme, and although some of his doesn’t rhyme, he insists that a rhyming poem shows that the words are put together in a much more painstaking way.

"Prose is words in their best order;

Poetry is the best words in their best order."

                                              Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Topics range:

From Introspection I don't know what it is about me,

                                              Sometimes, I just want to be free

         To Extroversion. You were destined to live with people,

                           In a world, a world that is theirs.

From Despair.    Love is a dream that will never

                           materialise,

To Romance.  I said "Easy, I love you."

From Naturism. As I gaze upon your strange, black,

Enzo was born in the rural village of Torrice, Italy, and emigrated with this parents to Australia, where he grew up in the Sugar Cane town of Childers, Queensland.  He enlisted in the RAAF from school and then as a civilian again worked at several occupations from Advertising to Cab Driving.  He wrote poetry from the age of 18, not for any purpose of publishing them but as a means of expression.  He helped teach a Children’s Ministry class each Sunday with his Church, and developed many characters while teaching.  At the Age of 26 he traveled to Italy to visit his birth place, and many relatives he’d never known.  The travel-bug had now bitten him however, and once back in Australia, he used the freedom of Cab Driving, to travel again, this time, the world over, and he lived out one of his fantasies, which was living in Israel, where he worked for two years.  He attended Christian Heritage College in Brisbane, Australia, where he completed a BA in (English & History), and began teaching.  After studying Children’s Literature he turned his hand to writing, and wrote the Tsami & Tsado trilogy.  He then completed a BEd (Italian & English) and MA (Applied Linguistics) at the University of Queensland.    In 2004 he began teaching English in North Carolina high schools, USA where he has found a wealth of inspiration.  He lives in rural St Pauls with his dog, Caleb, an Australian Shepherd of course, and his Chooks (chickens in America). Enzo attends the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, and approaches his writing with a philosophy which says, ‘if the story is not going to up-build and teach something lasting, why bother writing it?

When his journalist friend, nicknamed 'Eagle', said he wanted to have his charicature drawn, Enzo suggested he write a poem to go with it.

THE EAGLE

They call him Eagle, he stands proud;

He knows how to win bread and provide.

A man who's always well above the crowd;

Who for life would need no guide.

They call him Eagle, he's seen it all;

And he likes to swear and drink;

But I've never once seen him fall-

Though he's pissed to the eyeballs, I think.

They call him Eagle, living his life;

Seeing the bad and not much good.
