Children in military families cope with a vast array of emotions when Mom or Dad deploys, especially during our nation's war on terror.

In this compassionate story, a young boy learns to cope and thrive while Dad is far away. Subtle suggestions for families enduring separation are weaved throughout this poignant book, and the lovable main character ultimately realizes that he's part of a special and appreciated family.

"On the night of the school recital, I dressed as Abe Lincoln and reviewed the lines I’d studied all month. When I stepped onstage, I looked into the audience and saw all sorts of dads. Boy, I was mad that mine wasn’t one of them. Then I spotted Mom with her video camera, capturing the moment for Dad. I gave the performance of a lifetime!"
