The adventures of White Tuxedo Penguin are not so different from those of children today. Sadness and great happiness comes to everyone throughout life. Being 'different' could cause more sadness than happiness. Let WTP help you learn to find happiness in the most unusual ways. His story will inspire you and help you find the 'special' in you and those you meet in life's journey. He will make being 'different' something to embrace. Like WTP, we are all 'one of a kind'. Janis Khatibi is a mother of three and a grandmother of four. The original writing of this book was done in 1986. Not knowing where to go to get it published it was put in a drawer and left there. After seeing the movie The March of The Penguins Janis remembered this book and decided to publish it. Having experienced prejudice when she was young, not because she was 'different', but because she was poor, she wants children of all races, religions, rich or poor, to understand that they are 'special' and have a great future ahead of them if they will not let peer pressure defeat them in spirit or heart.
Imagine big mountains of ice floating in the sea. Imagine beaches of ice, no trees, no grass, no sand--nothing but ice all around you---and it is very cold. This place is called Antarctica. It is at the bottom of the earth all the way down to the South Pole. It is so cold that people do not live there—just penguins. They live on the beaches of ice at the edges of ice mountains called icebergs. They go fishing everyday. The grownup penguins are only two-feet tall and their fur coats look like black suits with white shirts—like tuxedos. They look like they are all dressed up in their Sunday best.
One of the penguin families had a little boy. They named him White Tuxedo because he was born with a white suit and a black shirt. He looked like his clothes were on backwards. His parents loved him very much and they would often tell him, “You have been created special, for a very special purpose.”
