Melvon is the author of Wake-Up, (Understanding your rights with on-the-job injuries) which chronicles her personal battle with her employer and the Workers’ Compensation System. She knows first-hand what it feels like to struggle for understanding and justice in the face of indifference due to a job injury. Since writing her first book, Anderson has primarily focused on occupational injuries. This has enabled her to help others who are going through similar situations.
Anderson’s second book, Held Captive “Employers’ Indifference with Work Related Injuries” is about the injustice that American’s face everyday regarding an on-the-job injury and Worker’s Compensation System. A third book, What “Lies” Beneath: Bureaucracy Exposed, is an exposé of “Corporate America’s” Red Tape Apathy and Politics.

Realizing his refusal to talk with her she decided to talk to him later. In the meantime, she stayed out of his sight for the rest of the day. As the day ended, she was getting ready to go home until the, (GSM) General Sales Manager walked into her office whistling. He told Johnny he had some wonderful news to tell him and they left the office. She had a weird feeling that something bad was about to happen, and it did!
When they came back, Johnny threw a fax on her desk from the director. It concerned the conversation they had the first week of January. The date on the fax was that same month. It stated that she had until Friday, (that same week) to take the Account Manager position they were offering her or be fired. Refusing to panic, she took the fax and put it in her purse. When she got home, she read the message again several times. It was hard to believe that those few words could cause her so much anger and pain. This took awhile before her heart stopped pounding, as though it would leap out of her chest.
The sticky taste in the back of her mouth would not go away, and her back was in spasms, as was her nerves that just tightened every muscle in her body. After sitting for a while, she decided that her best source of action would be to write up two responses. Send them to her attorney and let her decide which one should be submitted to the company. It took her some time, but when she was done, she was satisfied that either response would serve her purpose.
One was very long and detailed. It gave a view of her position in the company with examples of harassment she had been undergoing. Including an expression of what she thought management was trying to accomplish in forcing her to take a new position. The other one was much shorter. She faxed them to her attorney. Again, she was thankful that she had such a responsible person who supported her. On the other hand, she was disappointed that she had been advised to send the shorter letter, and to accept the position offered.
Apparently, sending the more explicit one would have made her seem like the biased and angry person that she had become. Letting them know how she really felt might have made her feel better, but would not have done anything to make her life easier in the company. And so, despite great disappointment and anger, this was not the last stop on this cycle of agony that she was on. But she hoped that maybe it would bring some stability and quietness in her mind.
