Savannah finds her new beginning in the majestic beauty of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Here, she is introduced to Mrs. Clarissa Winthrop and her two, loyal household employees, Odie and Hoak; three unforgettable characters which leave an indelible mark on the heart of the reader.
A ghost in Mrs. Winthrop's past, provides Savannah a new romantic interest, the ruggedly handsome cattle baron, Jake Morris. Savannah finds herself torn between her love for Jake and the painful memories of her past which continue to haunt her.
Without warning, Savannah is suddenly propelled into a life of intrigue and unexpected wealth. Interwoven in this gripping story, are themes of corporate power, romance and revenge, which Savannah wields with deadly force.
Tom P. Hackett could not begin to imagine what it would cost him when he broke Savannah León's heart. His betrayal, and Savannah's Choices, alter both their lives---forever.
Donna Ketchbaw has had a wide variety of experiences to qualify her to write her first novel. She was a Miss Texas Beauty Pageant finalist. She went on to become a speech pathologist, and continues to teach and supervise part time today. Donna is known for her quick wit, humorous expressions and Southern charm.
The locations she writes about are very familiar to her. Her ancestors came from Louisiana, and she spent much of her childhood on their family plantation. She's lived in Texas most of her adult life, but spent many wonderful summers with her family and friends at their summer home located in the Bridger Wilderness area near Jackson Hole, Wyoming; a place dear to her heart.
Donna married her husband, Tom Ketchbaw, a former Marine who survived the battle of Iwo Jima. They have a grown son, Juaquin, (named after a Texas Ranger friend), and a daughter, Kodie Ann. When not writing or teaching, Donna spends time gardening, taking care of their two cats, Smutt & Baxter, and their new resident Peacocks, Meeny and Moe...who just appeared one day in the back yard at their country home, located a few miles from the town of Fredericksburg, in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.
Savannah turned to leave. “Very well, have it your way. You can’t say I didn’t give you every opportunity to cooperate.” Before she reached the door, Savannah stopped and looked back at Tom P. She stood quietly for a moment watching him. "You know Tom P., there was a time when I loved you more than life itself, and I thought you loved me, too---but you didn't. Instead, you lied, you cheated, and you ripped my heart out. There was a time when I didn't think I'd recover, but I did." Savannah's black eyes became intense as she stared at Hackett. "Hell hath no fury like the scorn of a woman, Tom P. What goes around, comes around. I’ve always believed that; now it’s my turn.”
Hackett stared into those black Cajun eyes. Those eyes that had haunted him day and night for over three years, only this time, Savannah's eyes were not filled with love for him, but with hate. "Today, I gave you every opportunity to name your price; to tell me what you think your life is worth, and you refused." Savannah pitched the documents on his desk. "So here's the offer, Hackett; you'd be well advised to take it," she sneered.
Hackett glared at Savannah, and slammed his fist down hard on the papers, screaming at her. "Who the hell do you think you are coming in here trying to threaten me! You're pissin' up a wet rope if you think you can buy Tom P. Hackett at any price!"
