Readers will appreciate the many elements of poetic craft and thematic coherency that pillar Poems On Some Parables Of Christ.  If you like to read poetry that challenges you to think, this collection was written for you.  It pries the Bible from the coffee table, dusts it off and delves into the timeless Parables of God's Son.  The book rewinds us back in time to the first century when Christ, through His Parables, revealed and concealed to the world the truths of His eternal kingdom.  Truths that are as relevant and poetic in the twenty-first century as they were in the days when Christ first spoke them.  Since the beginning of time, humankind has searched for the answer to this question:  What is truth?  To answer this question, we must first ask, "Who Is Truth?"  Jesus Christ said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6).  So was Jesus a liar, a lunatic?  Or is He Lord and "...The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29)?  Poems On Some Parables Of Christ offers its readers an exploration into the Who and What of the age-old question about truth using poetry as its guide.

Matt is a poet who resides in Pasadena, Maryland.  As a result of Retinitis Pigmentosa, an incurable eye disease, he is legally blind.  He lives with his wife, Pam, and their two daughters, Julia and Abigail.  He and his wife have owned and operated All God’s Children Child Care Center since 1989.  Matt has also written several gospel tracts.  During a five-year period, he and a handful of faithful friends have distributed over 50,000 of his tracts in neighborhoods and parking lots throughout Maryland.  Matt is currently writing a book of sonnets based on Messianic prophecy.

Why Jesus Spoke in Parables

(Matthew 13:10-17)

Since God has a pearl of great price to share

(no oyster in His sea could ever mold)

Christ speaks parables to crowds in the square.

As His disciples knock, He hears their prayer

and tells how His parables will unfold,

since God has a pearl of great price to share.

Yet to ears that won't hear, He'll not declare;

for this rationale, we are also told,

"Christ speaks parables to crowds in the square."

Asaph wrote in Psalms how he was aware

that Christ would utter hidden things of old,

since God has a pearl of great price to share.

Isaiah once warned how we'd look elsewhere

because we understand with hearts ice-cold;

Christ speaks parables to crowds in the square.

Most men who do not seek His pearl stand there,

still, like tares sown amid the wheat.  Behold,

since God has a pearl of great price to share,

Christ speaks parables to crowds in the square.
