About the Author
Evelyn Doreen Simm wrote the poems, hymns, quizzes and mini-murder mysteries for this book over two decades. It is intended to raise a smile, provoke a thought or be of use, especially to women's groups in churches. Doreen belongs to a women's fellowship in her own church, Roker United Reformed Church in Sunderland, N.E. England where she grew up and was educated and graduated at Durham University in 1957. After an active life as a wife, mother and grandmother, also English Lecturer and Lay Preacher, she has found an outlet in writing about the world she knows, the ups and downs of life, and the faith which sustains her. At dark times writing has been a valuable means of switching off the pain of her husband Eddie's strokes and latter years in nursing homes, or the turmoil of her son's untimely death. It is hoped that the reader can dip into a poem, use a hymn or quiz, or rehearse a small group for play-reading a mini-murder-mystery at a time when speakers for meetings are in short supply
