About the Author

Maria R. Mabe is the oldest daughter of Elizabeth Catherine Weber Cheaney and David Cheaney.

Maria, along with her brother, Mark, and sisters, Susan, and Sara, and father David, were a great support system to Betty from the time she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in 1999, until the time Betty reached her heavenly reward in 2001. Maria provides poignant details of many valuable Leukemia Lessons that she learned by watching her mother battle (AML) with grace and how these lessons learned impacted her daily living during and after her mother's illness.

Maria currently resides in Avon, Indiana with her husband Greg. She continues to work as a Speech Language Pathologist in the Long Term Care Setting. Maria loves interacting with her 4 nieces and 6 nephews and telling them funny stories about their grandma Betty.
