About the Book

On the way to Nebraska in 1986 my life was changed forever in the blink of an eye when the tour bus on which I was traveling slammed into an 18-wheel tanker. After the accident and during my recovery my sister was keeping a journal, which she told me was to help me write my book. From time to time through the years I thought about that book, especially when I would share my story at churches or one-on-one and people would say, "You need to write a book" However, my second thought would always be, "Who would ever want to read about me" and I would shove the idea back to the corner of my mind where it had been hanging out for years. Finally a few years ago after being introduced to a word processor, I sat down and began to write my story. The computer made the writing part easy enough, but telling the story was one of the most difficult things I have ever done. It took weeks and weeks of reading and rereading my sister's journal and digging up memories deeply buried, which were painful to review. I won't say it was exactly a labor of love, but I am glad I finally did it. It is my prayer that people will be encouraged and inspired by reading how God has brought me through it all. If I seem courageous or special in any way it is because of Him.

About the Author

Deanna Hill is a housewife, mother and grandmother. She resides with Kenny, her husband of 50 years, in the rural community of Olive Branch in southern IL. They live in a big old rambling hunting-lodge-style home on a rather secluded hilltop very near the area where she was born and raised. She enjoys shopping, reading and painting (with her 91 year old aunt), but most of all, she enjoys singing. She traveled extensively for 14 years in the 70’s and 80’s with the family Gospel band. For the past several years she has been music director in the small country church where she has been a member since she was 10 years of age. She especially enjoys leading the church choir in special seasonal musicals . . . recruiting her sister and brother-in-law, as well as several cousins and other singers in the area, to join in the fun. She spends two days a week with her mother who resides in a nursing home 30 minutes from her home. Every couple of months she is booked in to sing for the residents of the home, which she loves doing. A couple of years ago Deanna, her sister Helen Jo and daughter-in-law, Geinger completed a Gospel CD as the singing trio TRILOGY. Deanna has been marketing this project very successfully from her home. As often as possible, though not as often as she would like, she and Ken make a trip to see their son, Mark and his family in Franklin, TN. She delights in and loves being with her two grandsons, who are 10 and 4. She does all of this while dealing with being a double amputee, having lost her left foot at the ankle and half of her right foot in a traffic accident in 1986.
