About the Author

I am a Texas native who has taught in both a small town school settings and in the city (DFW area). This has allowed me to witness the seriousness of bullying whether in the small school settings or the big city areas!!! Unfortunately, growing up I saw and experienced some of the different areas in bullying, such as class (money), race, clicks, and the list goes on! I am hoping through my series of books that I will be able to help some students find relief and help, while others may see themselves in the mirror and make that change!!!

As a child, student, mother, sister, grandmother, and teacher, I have had the privilege of seeing children interact with one another and have been able to determine the nurturing nature in some, and the lack of moral support in others. Unfortunately, I have seen how the lack of morals in some students has lead to the acts of their "Bullying" on other children. I feel that through my writings I can help students see that there is a way to get help from being bullied and it also helps "Bullies" see, not only their victim's point of view, but that bullying doesn't pay. Also, how they are percieved by others, including members of their own family.

As a student, I remember taking up for other students that were bullied, after actually becoming a victim myself. Until my grandmother told me something I will never forget, "A bully is only as brave as the victim allows it!" Suffice to say, I was in the Principal's office, and was never bullied again!

As a teacher, I also know the need that teachers (whether home-schooling, public or private school) have for books that help them intertwine their reading with their writing lessons in preparation for the TAKS or EOY, and my books make this extremely easy. They cover the TEKS for Reading and Writing, which is wonderful for the classroom. They also include figurative language and vocabulary build-up which for the most part includes synonyms or other clues that student can use to decipher the meaning of the high-frequency words. Most of my books have lesson plans, as well as, worksheets available. These books also teach through illustrations (Picture-It) which helps with descriptive or transitioning words so students can get a better picture in their heads as they relate it to their vocabulary usage in their reading or writing.

I feel that you can't go wrong with a book that covers morals, especially, since "Bullying" is such a serious problem in our public schools! This is such a great teaching tool in the classroom, yet, full of adventure!!!
