This book is dedicated to the caregivers. Most often they are the spouse and the forgotten ones when all the emphasis is placed on the patient. Two 75 year olds looking out for one another is common. Caregivers are also more likely to be other family members. reducing stress to the caregiver gives hope to the whole family. Good planning means peace of mind. What does it mean to make the transition home? Coming home from a care facilty or having an aging parent move into your home can require sudden modifications to the living environment. Of course we dont have to leave a hospital or move to benefit from modifications. Simple modifications can keep us living independently longer in our own homes. How do I go about determining what changes are needed? Because each person or situation is different, each solution will also be different. The number of maladies faced by individuals multiplied by the galaxy of design features available in our existing housing inventory today means one size does not fit all. Sorting out the choices depends on what need arose to consider changes in the first place. I have seen similarites in common solutions and find it useful to ask the four questions to better planning.
