C is for Chipmunk

I met two chipmunks who were too shy to smile.

Their teeth were all crooked so after awhile,

I saw them again with smiles on their faces.

For while I was gone, they had both gotten braces.

K is for Kangaroo

The kangaroo does not have to bring

a case to carry a single thing.

For right in front she has a pocket

and never has to think to lock it.

O is for Octopus

I was lost on the ocean and coming to harm,

when an octopus asked me to take his arm.

But I found his request rather hard to meet,

for how can you tell his arms from his feet?

V is for Viper

In bed coiled beside me late at night,

a viper, a snake, and I shook with fright.

What a relief for me when my eyes cleared to see

a dirty old sock lying next to me.
