Writers' Forum Ongoing Short Story Competition
Prizes range from a minimum 1st prize £300, 2nd prize £150 and 3rd prize £100 with an annual trophy and a cheque for £1,000 for the best story of the year. The competition is open to all nationalities but entries must be in English.

Announcing the 5th Annual Tall Tale Tell-off Contest to be held in Nashville, IN. Saturday June 21 at 1:30 p.m. sponsored by the Brown County Chamber of Commerce, Writers, Readers, & Poets Society (WRAPS), and is hosted by the Brown County Public Library. First place winner $500. 2nd place $250. 3rd place $100 . 4th & 5th place $75.00 each. Writer's Digest Writing Competition
A prize of $3,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to meet with editors and agents is given annually for a poem, short story, or work of creative nonfiction. Submit a poem of up to 32 lines, a short story of up to 4,000 words, or a work of creative nonfiction of up to 2,000 words. The entry fee for poetry is $10 ($5 for each additional poem). University of California Chicano/Latino Literary Prize
A prize of $1,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to the award ceremony in Irvine, California, is given annually on a rotating basis for a book-length poetry collection, a short story collection, and a novel written in Spanish or English. A second prize of $500 is also awarded. The 2008 prize will be given for a short story collection by a Chicano or Latino writer who is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
