Author Publishes Inspirational Book
in Conjunction with the Cornea Research Foundation of America

Elaine Voci

Self-publishing veteran Elaine Voci was no stranger to the process when she chose AuthorHouse. Among her reasons for selecting AuthorHouse, Voci cites their publishing process. “AuthorHouse makes the publishing process easy and they allow the author to keep the copyright,” said Voci. “The author services representatives are friendly and respectful of people’s work. They realize that publishing a book is a dream for many of their authors.”

Voci initially began writing because she felt that she had something to say and her feelings were affirmed by the people around the world from whom she received e-mails and written notes explaining how her first book Bridge Builders: Ordinary Women Doing Extraordinary Things, touched their lives. She continues to write because of her fascination with everyday heroes and how they positively impact their communities.

Celebration of Light

Her most recent book, Celebration of Light, contains stories from a group of individuals who overcame vision challenges, and in some cases, the loss of sight. As development director for the Cornea Research Foundation of America in Indianapolis, Ind., this book is a testament to the role of courage and hope in overcoming difficulties in life and to the new vision resources previously unavailable. AuthorHouse served as Voci’s partner on this book by donating a standard publishing package. All of the proceeds from Voci’s third book benefit the foundation.

Why do you write?
I write to tell stories about the "everyday" heroes and heroines in our world, people who might otherwise impact only their immediate family and friends. Putting their stories into a book connects them to a much larger community, one reader at a time.

What inspires you to write?
I am inspired to write by the people I meet; it is always so interesting to ask, and then listen to and learn, how they got started in business, or how they met their mate, or what made them choose the career path they did. Everyone has a story worth telling, even those who believe otherwise. For me, writing books is like being a midwife; first the book is conceived of in my mind, then worked on with my hands, and finally, delivered in printed form with a life of its own. I believe the creative impulse that arouses each book, calling it into being, comes from a source of wisdom far greater than me.

What has it meant to you to publish your work?
Seeing these works published is always a joyous and meaningful celebration; it is a wonderful feeling to experience the deep satisfaction that comes from being used for a higher purpose.
