Author Profile: Mike Johnson
Transcript:
My name is Mike Johnson. I live in a little town called North Canton, Ohio. In working with AuthorHouse, I have now published three historical novels set during World War II and the Korean War. The first one is called Warrior Priest. The second is Fate of the Warriors. The brand new one is God’s Perfect Scar.
One of the amazing things that has occurred, is the number of really truly heartwarming anecdotes that have occurred. For example, a high school history teacher read my first book and concluded it was a better way to teach history than his text book, so he applied to a foundation for a grant, the foundation approved it. That gave him the money to buy copies of my book for his students, displacing the text book.
I knew how long it might take to find an agent, who then might have to spend some time finding a company, at which then might take some time getting it between covers, and I didn’t want to be age sixty-five or sixty-six before my first book was out. That’s why I began investigating companies like AuthorHouse.
I think the single-most surprising aspect of publishing a book is the cache that goes with being an author. I have found people to be genuinely impressed by anybody who has written a book about anything. They want to learn more about the book, they want to learn more about the author, and that has been both surprising and very, very gratifying.
