Leading U.S. Publishing Company Expands to U.K.

AuthorHouse to Offer Services and Distribution for U.K. Authors

Bloomington , Ind. , May 17, 2004 - AuthorHouse TM , the leading provider of publishing services for authors in the United States , has opened an office in the United Kingdom . With over 20,000 books in print in the U.S. , AuthorHouse will expand its reach to serve writers throughout England, Scotland, Ireland, Europe and the Asia-Pacific marketplace.

"Writers who have been searching for alternatives to mainstream publishing in the United Kingdom and Europe will find the AuthorHouse methodology appealing," said Robert McCormack , company president.

"We offer authors a way to publish their works themselves. Authors are assigned their own personal author advocates who get to know them and understand their publishing goals," McCormack said. "AuthorHouse advocates are serious about writing and publishing and act as the author's guide at every stage of the publishing process, from submitting a manuscript to using powerful marketing tools for the promotion of a book."

UK authors choose AuthorHouse

A number of UK authors have already chosen AuthorHouse as their publisher, including Hampshire resident Diana Gooden-Husbands, whose novel Shoy was recently published by AuthorHouse, commented, "You just can't imagine how I felt when my book arrived by post - it was total euphoria! You don't ever dream you're going to see your work in print, to actually have it happen is absolutely out of this world."

Bestselling author Luke Rhinehart, known for his 1970s cult classic Dice Man published two books with AuthorHouse. "AuthorHouse provided me at a small cost a fast and convenient means to make two out-of-print novels of mine available to readers in both the US and UK," he said. "I retain all rights to my work and can still option for movies or a traditional publishing deal," Rhinehart continued. Rhinehart published White Rain, Black Rider and Whim with AuthorHouse.

Authors are in control

AuthorHouse provides a comprehensive range of publishing, book selling and promotional services including design, production, distribution and marketing. AuthorHouse authors retain the rights to their books and exercise control over design and production decisions. They also determine how many copies of their books are printed, when they are printed and their own royalty schedule. Every book receives worldwide distribution-through Ingram in the North American market and via Bertrams, Gardners, and Nielsen BookData in the U.K. and Europe . Books are also sold through major U.S. and U.K. Internet booksellers and at the AuthorHouse online store, www.authorhouse.com.

Books are printed using the latest print-on-demand (POD) technology offered by Ingram's subsidiary, Lightning Source, which also operates out of the U.K. in Milton Keynes . Because POD books are generated one at a time, they neatly sidestep the high costs traditionally associated with bringing new books to the marketplace.
