Adrenaline Adventure in Africa Begins
AuthorHouse Sponsors Writer's Quest to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Fran Capo - Guinness Book of World Records' fastest-talking female, world-renowned adventurer and author - begins her latest challenge as she embarks on an African expedition that will take her to the peak of the continent's highest mountain.
Capo and her 15-year-old son, Spencer, left their home in New York July 1, to begin their quest to ascend Mount Kilimanjaro , the highest freestanding peak in the world. They arrived in Tanzania Friday, July 2, and started their climb July 3. Capo and Spencer expect to reach the 19,340-foot summit on July 9 at 9 a.m. Tanzania time. Capo will then hold the first-known book signing on a mountaintop to celebrate the release of her new book, Adrenaline Adventures: Dream it. Read it. Do it! (now available through AuthorHouse).
AuthorHouse™, Capo's publisher, is largely funding and supplying the expedition along with the makers of Snickers ® Marathon™ Energy Bars, who are supplying high-energy snacks for the climb.
Ascending Mount Kilimanjaro holds significant risks, one of which is altitude sickness. According to Corbett Bishop of Corbett Bishop Safaris, the tour company Capo has chosen to lead her trip, it is not uncommon for participants to experience nausea and difficulty breathing. The desire to eat and drink wanes as the atmosphere grows thin, so Capo and Spencer will have to force themselves to ingest nutrients and water. Still, this adventurer is geared up to do an historic book signing and maybe do some of her famous fast talking for the locals.
When she is not writing or combing the world for her next adrenaline rush, Capo is a stand-up comic, actress, voiceover artist, motivational speaker and hypnotherapist. She co-created the award winning cyber sitcom"The Estrogen Files: Money, Men and Motherhood" located at www.TheEstrogenFiles.Net . She has been featured on The Discovery Channel and such programs as "Ripley's Believe It or Not" and "Larry King Live." A graduate of Queens College in New York, Capo has appeared on more than 1,000 radio shows and 250 television shows, and has been featured in numerous books.
