ForeWord Magazine Recognizes AuthorHouse Authors at Book Expo America
Six Authors Honored at Nation's Largest Publishing Event
Bloomington, Ind. -- AuthorHouse (www.authorhouse.com) authors were in the spotlight at last week’s BookExpo America (BEA) events in New York City as six authors from its diverse stable of talent received honors in this year’s ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards.
Making the list for the 2005 awards were works of historical fiction, humor, self-help, science fiction and family/relationships. AuthorHouse, the premier publishing house for emerging authors and new voices in literature, claimed one gold medal winner, one silver, three bronze and an honorable mention.
"We are delighted that ForeWord Magazine has recognized these six authors for their quality and thought-provoking writing," said Bryan Smith, President and CEO of AuthorHouse. "Self-publishing and distribution through our expanding channels is redefining how today’s authors get published."
The 2005 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Award winners from AuthorHouse are:
• Just an Accident, (gold) by Amy Montgomery, tells the harrowing and heartwarming true story of a man whose strong faith and family ties helped him recover from a near-fatal logging accident that left him paralyzed. The book contains an endorsement from Christopher Reeve that was written just weeks before his death.
• Counterpoint: Tecumseh v. William Henry Harrison, (silver) by James A. Huston, a saga of the conflict of cultures between White settlers and Indian inhabitants of the Old Northwest as personified in the rivalry between Tecumseh and Harrison.
• A Girl’s Pocket Guide to Trouser Trout, (bronze) by Gail Rubin, a humorous look at the often-murky waters of the dating pool with insights inspired by fly-fishing techniques and advice.
• The Monastery, (bronze) by Seeth Miko Trimpert, a timely tale of untimely reincarnation; a story of men and women, of love and history, of religion and, perhaps, fantasy.
• The Last Relationship Book You’ll Ever Need, (bronze) by James Collister, is a powerful resource for helping people to uncover the hidden secrets of creating successful relationships.
• The Liberty Legion, (honorable mention) by Walter Coffey puts readers in the middle of the action as conspirators assemble in Baltimore during the Civil War and mass arms for an attack on Washington. One man, assigned to uncover their plot, must conquer his inner demons before he attempts to thwart the legionnaires.
“The best ideas have always come from independent thinkers,” says ForeWord Magazine’s Web site. “We believe that maxim holds true for written ideas as well. The most thought-provoking, startling and original books being published today can be found on the lists from independent publishers.”
All of the titles above are available through major book retailers and the AuthorHouse online store, www.authorhouse.com.
