AuthorHouse Titles Garner ForeWord Magazine 's Book of the Year Awards
BLOOMINGTON, Ind., June 17 -- Four up-and-coming writers from AuthorHouse, the country's leading provider of self-publishing services, won awards in ForeWord Magazine 's 2003 "Book of the Year Award" contest. ForeWord , ranked among the premiere book marketing publications, announced the winners at the 2004 Book Expo America in Chicago in early June.
"These awards indicates the strength of self-published writing," explained AuthorHouse president Robert McCormack "The winning books are examples of the high quality and originality of many self-published titles."
A jury of librarians, booksellers and reviewers hailed the quality of the four books, which won awards specific to their genres. AngeliQue Cherene Shatzel won the silver award in the fiction-romance category for Steal Me Away; Brooks Carver won the bronze in fiction-historical for The Angels' Share; Dominic Amadiwochi won the bronze in philosophy for Hegel on the Negroes: A Victim's Interpretation; and Kristen Hunter received an honorable mention in gay/lesbian-fiction for The Empty Cocoon.
Shatzel, a native of California , and Amadiwochi, originally from Nigeria , both live in New York . Carver, a former Floridian, now resides in Canton , Ill. Longtime Lake Tahoe resident Kristen Hunter recently relocated to Montana .

ForeWord's Book of the Year Award was established to bring increased attention by librarians and booksellers to the literary achievements of independent publishers and their authors.
