Competitive Edge Drives San Diego Book Awards Finalist

Author Joseph McHugh Honored for Guide to Sharpening Business Skills

SAN DIEGO - Seasoned executive and author Joseph McHugh was selected as a finalist and awarded second place for his book The Competitive Edge: The Eight Efficiency Factors for Continuous Improvement (now available through AuthorHouse) at the Eleventh Annual San Diego Book Awards, which took place in May. McHugh’s premiere book was recognized in the 2004 Published Business Book Category.

The Competitive Edge offers advice to managers attempting to boost efficiency and profits. Drawing from 25 years of experience, McHugh outlines keys to streamlining nearly every aspect of business and provides guidance on how to initiate a regimen of continuous improvement. He focuses on the specific needs of managers who are seeking to advance their businesses to the next level as he presents sound concepts that make an organization more efficient. Throughout the book, McHugh stresses his motto for continuous improvement: “Do it now!” This catch phrase serves as a constant reminder to managers that each moment can be used to propel their companies upward.

The Competitive Edge introduces ideas that, for many, require a radical new approach to business, while conveying new opportunities for enhancing practices already in place to others.

McHugh is an operational executive with 25 years of experience in the domestic and international consumer electronics industry. He has assisted start-up facilities, executed profitable turn-around assignments and led the phase-outs of non-competitive businesses in the United States, Italy, Poland and Japan. With a degree in business management from the University of Scranton, McHugh is a self-reliant executive who worked his way from supervisor to senior vice president. The Competitive Edge is his first book.
